You may recall earlier this year I started collaborating with a dressmaker in Poland. Her name is Monica and she has a little shop on Etsy called Mokkafiveoclock. I first fell in love with this skirt of hers and after sharing it, we started emailing about some other lengths for her brilliant full circle skirts. I have already shared the maxi skirt that we collaborated on, and now I'm sharing with you the perfect length midi-skirt she has.
This fully-lined, hand made skirt is the perfect length. It rests just long enough that the knee is obscured from sight. This is my favourite thing about midi skirts. The part of my legs from my ankle to the bottom of my knee is, in my opinion, the best part of my legs. Something about this length is so timelessly elegant. It captures a silhouette of legs and ankles contrasted by a budding skirt opening like a flower. It also reminds me of old paintings of ballerinas with their elegant legs drawing a line out from a sea of long skirts.
The location my sister and I chose to play around in for this shoot, is called The Tangled Maze. It's just out of my hometown and is a beautiful garden with human height plants and hedges for you to get lost in. It is beautiful and dreamy, just like this stunning floral print. Blue floral with pink or red flowers is one of my favourite print combinations. When Monica suggested it I remember swooning even then, before I had seen the skirt in person. When the skirt arrived and I opened the package to it (at some stupid time of night with my sister in the kitchen) it really warmed my heart.
One of the best things about getting a skirt made by a small independent designer like Mokkafiveoclock, is that you can customise it. If you're extra tall you could ask Monica for more length. She also tailors the waist measurement to what you want and has a range of prints and materials to choose from (while not listed, if you ask Monica for a particular print she has she can do it). That's something that you can't get if you buy clothes in store and I feel makes the clothes infinitely more personal. This skirt Monica and I decided on definitely feels very me, and at this moment, probably no one else is the world is wearing one. And my time poor self didn't have to make it.

This image above really shows one of my favourite details of this blouse. The collar is folded over like a delicious silk and satin burrito. In the fold, when the collar shifts and the fold opens, there is the same plum satin that the bows on the shoulders are made from. It's quite cheeky and sweet.
Since midi skirts are my favourite, do you have a piece of clothing you like to wear that you like the look of?
