For today’s flower crown Friday, my sister and I went down to the beach and used the native grasses and bushes to weave a special flower crown. This one was gathered from the flora growing around a memorial stone for a young man that went missing when I was a child. We left the crown as a wreath, to tell the family we are still thinking of them.

If you've been reading my blog for a few months you would have seen my post about the beautiful handmade skirts from Mokkafiveoclock on Etsy. After I shared the post Monica, who runs the Etsy store, made contact with me about the wish I had expressed that she made both midi and maxi skirts. Full circle maxi skirts had been something I dreamed about, but not seen much of. Monica offered me the opportunity to work with her to collaborate on designing the pieces I would love to wear.

I have moved back to my hometown of Ballarat after moving interstate to Perth in Western Australia. To drive from Ballarat to Perth would cover 3,314.1km (2059.2 miles). They are on exact opposite sides of the country. I have a really strong bond with my family and my best friends so it was a pretty life changing move.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll probably already be aware that I am a sucker for an embroidered cardigan. I have a collection involving embroidered bunting, sailboats, polka dots, Scottie dogs, hummingbirds and flower garlands. Naturally, I fell in love with this decadently detailed cardigan from Voodoo Vixen.

It’s that time of year again where I attend the world’s greatest music festival: So Frenchy So Chic. They always have a stellar line-up of delicious bands, and a perfect party soundtrack that you can listen to all year. The food and atmosphere are brilliant, and the day is always enhanced if you experience it in good company. I was lucky enough to have good company.

One of the most common misconceptions people have about me is that I’m an extrovert. This probably stems from the notion that extroversion involves being outgoing and introversion refers to reclusive behaviour. In fact, introversion and extroversion are about social energy, specifically where the energy from social activity comes from. Its no wonder when I’m confident, or energetic, or willing to have a go that people think I’m outgoing. Especially when I am often in positions of visibility, such as performing.

I was recently at the house of a dear friend for a small gathering where I met and hung out with a number of people from Ballarat’s arts community. One of the most interesting parts of the discussion was discovering that, as someone who was born in Ballarat, I have probably been in Ballarat the longest. This was interesting for me, because when growing up here, people who were not born in Ballarat were usually the odd ones out.

When I lived in Perth, I used to work at a clothing store in the city on William St. Some days I would catch the bus, some days I would ride my bike and some days I would walk from our awesome apartment in Mt Lawley. I spent a lot of time wandering the shops in Mt Lawley and Northbridge, getting to know my neighbourhood.

Since we're starting a new year, it's a good chance to look back at the year just gone and to see everything that has happened so far. I'm taking the chance to appreciate what fantastic things another year of blogging has opened up to me, and I'll be setting some blogging goals for another year. Thanks so much for being part of my year! Here are the posts that my readers loved most, so if you haven't been reading all year you might get a chance to see something you missed out on. Keep in mind, I've ordered these by date, and not by popularity. The first post (above) was all about why I love the colour yellow! Find it here.
